The Berkeley Academy is a free, signature service program offered by Berkeley Preparatory School aimed at helping highly motivated, low-income students in our Tampa Bay community reach their unique potential and achieve their dream of going to college.

We utilize a teachers-teaching-teachers model to train our team. We have created a partnership with a local college (The University of Tampa) to extend the impact of our program, where education majors are able to serve as "instructional coaches "to receive additional experience in the classroom. Research shows us that one of the best ways to learn is to teach; education majors are able to observe high school students teaching elective-style classes and use our coaching method to provide constructive feedback that the high school “teachers” can implement immediately. This invaluable experience allows education majors to not only grow our high school student-teachers, but also grows their own pedagogical repertoire. This partnership with the University of Tampa and our school mutually benefits both parties with an overall goal to help close the opportunity gap and help build/strengthen the educational leaders of tomorrow.
