In this session, we will understand the theory and science of purpose and why it’s a game changer for both students and teachers. We’ll try an activity called Calling Cards, which is the first in a three-step process to help teachers clarify their unique purpose. “Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation,” says Brené Brown, who challenges teachers to create safe spaces where students can remove their emotional armor and engage in deeper learning. But teachers can’t give away what they don’t own. In other words, teachers need to do the hard work of clarifying their own purpose before they can help students do the same. This workshop will give teachers both an overview and an experience of purpose in learning.
