From January 2017-May 2019, Lab Atlanta operated as a pilot public/private partnership to bring honors-level 10th graders together in the city for a civically-engaged, experiential semester using the city as the classroom. The exciting promise of this partnership led the founding director to leave the independent school where the program was launched, and with their blessing, establish Lab Atlanta 2.0 as its own non-profit in partnership with universities and Atlanta area public and private schools. In this session, participants will hear from stakeholders why this model is so promising for Atlanta--and for cities who are interested in connecting their students to the diverse ecosystems that are unfolding.
