This session will focus on the Classroom Exchange program offered by the National Constitution Center, through which high school teachers can register their classes to discuss major, constitutional questions with classrooms elsewhere in the United States. Through modeled classroom activities, online educational resources, and multimedia materials, educators will gain insight into how to prepare their students for the online discussion, what to expect during the program, and how to support student learning when the conversation concludes. Among other classroom ready resources, participants will also receive a lesson from the First Amendment plan of study, which students use to answer the question “When does the Constitution allow the government to limit free speech?” through civil dialogue techniques.
