Kyra Atterbury is a Program Director at Need in Deed, a Philadelphia based education non-profit organization. She manages teacher recruitment and professional development for Need in Deed's city-wide teacher network and has nearly 20 years of experience in Philadelphia's public education system.

Prior to coming to Need in Deed, Kyra spent nearly a decade working with students both in and out of the classroom.  She served as a Social Emotional Learning teacher for high school students where she focused on building relationships between students and staff.  She has also served as the Education Director at the National Liberty Museum where she led a staff of educators and wrote curriculum on conflict resolution, the rights and responsibilities of freedom, and heroism in the community.  

Kyra holds a BA in history from Loyola University Maryland and an MA in Public History from Temple University. In addition, she proudly serves on the Advisory Board of the Rustin Community Change Axis at West Chester University.
